Sayings of a Gadfly

A pastor said, “Humans are violent.  Within each person is the potential to kill.  This is proof of the Christian doctrine that we are damned sinners and in need of salvation through Jesus.”

The Gadfly said, “Go into a bear’s den and pick up a cub.  You will die a horrible death.  Yet, there are no missionaries trying to save the bears.  That people can also express ferocity is not a denial of our innocence.”

The pastor said, “That is ludicrous, there is a big difference between defending your young and murder.”

The Gadfly responded, “Realize that humans are only slightly more intelligent than bears.  And as a mother bear would kill an innocent child who only sought a playmate, so humans run around slaughtering that which they do not understand.  Although our ignorance can be painful and destructive, it is not inherently evil.  Goodness can survive a violent nature, but pseudo-moralities, which do nothing but slander life, are a poison to virtue.”
