OF WAR AND ROSES

The Gadfly asked, “Who is the greater warrior?  Is it the one who goes to war with cold blood and a heart of stone? Or is it the one who has the heart to face the dire battles with the sensitivity of a poet, and brings the fullness of their love into the killing?”

Someone said, “You don’t bring love into killing.  That does not make sense.”

The Gadfly replied, “Whatever you do, you should do with your whole being.  If you must cut away half your soul in order to make war, then your war is not worthy of you.  Bring all of your love and tenderness into your warfare, or do not make war at all.”
