GOSPEL STORIES
AND BLANKET TRUTH

The Gadfly was working in a homeless shelter.  An evangelist came into the shelter and began to preach the gospel.  He spoke fervently of Christ.  And he vigorously proclaimed Jesus to be the only true God.  He preached about salvation and righteousness.  The evangelist’s heart was filled with the preaching of his gospel. And when he finished preaching, he left.

During the whole of his sermon, the evangelist failed to notice an old man sitting on a cot right in front of him.  This weak old man was shaking badly, because the shelter was under-heated and there were not enough blankets.  Now, there was another person in that room.  This person knew nothing of theology or salvation.  But although she was cold, she got up and unwrapped the blanked from her own body.  And she gave it to the old man.

The Gadfly saw this and said, “To open the mouth and proclaim the divinity of Christ is a sin.  But to open the heart and live the teachings of Jesus is divine.”
