FEEDING OFF THE BOTTOM

A preacher spoke with a tone of satisfaction saying, “God will not forgive those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit.  Eternal torture in Hell is the fate of those who do not honor God.” 

The Gadfly said, “You are right about one thing, preacher.  God will not forgive us.  For forgiveness must follow condemnation.  And God would no more stuff itself with our condemnation than a bird would swim to the bottom of the ocean in order to feed upon the rocks.   But you sip the dregs of life as if it were fine wine for your soul.  Let compassion soar through the heavens on wings of love while you wallow in the mud eating rocks.  We cannot honor God if we do not honor one another.  And there is more honor in love than in torture.”
