UPLIFTED

A pastor said, “It is a Christian’s duty to lift up the name of Jesus.  For he is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

The Gadfly said, “When the name of Jesus is lifted high, then the specters of oppression and violence cast a shadow of death over the land.  And the worst in human character shall rise up unrestrained.  But those who set Jesus aside to lift up the poor and the sick are the fulfillment of his teachings.”

The pastor said, “But to minister to the poor and sick is to lift up Jesus.”

The Gadfly responded, “How peculiar that when Christians love, the name of Jesus always goes along for the ride.  But when the name of Jesus is made to come before all things, love is murdered in the rush to dominate.”
